OPERATIONS MANAGER
The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for a full-time Operations Manager for its office in central Rome. This is a one year, full time contract.
The Operations Manager will assist TBI’s Director in coordinating, organizing, and facilitating on-site operations in collaboration with TBI staff. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff supervision, facilities management, financial and secretarial tasks, data entry and maintenance, and intervention in matters of bureaucracy and legal compliance.
This position also requires on-call and crisis management duties outside of office hours in the case of student emergencies too serious to be resolved by frontline student service staff.
The ideal candidate is easy-going and detail-oriented. It is essential that the candidate be a team-player, willing to work on a variety of important tasks when required, even when they may not fall within this job description. As a small company we rely on transparency and candid communications and collaboration.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in day-to-day operations of facilities; opening and closing procedures, answering phones, ensuring that equipment is maintained and supplies are ordered, delivered and paid for.
- Participating in on-site/virtual training in workplace safety (and/or renewing training already received if needed)
- Assisting the Program Manager during student conduct hearings and cases
- Assisting with pre-departure preparations and planning activities, in particular creating Activity Vouchers
- Participating in weekly team meetings in person or remotely
- Assisting the Director in questions of compliance
- Overseeing staff contracts and payments
- Overseeing office management including opening and closing (either in person or ensuring that staff is organized and available to do so)
- Overseeing staff scheduling and availability
- Keeping track of budgets and making payments in coordination with TBI accountants
- Negotiating bookings and payments with providers
- Maintaining the prima nota accounts file
- Rigorously maintaining Hubspot Colleagues and Colleague Types
- Filling in as the responsible person when the Director is out of town
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Mother-tongue Italian with fluency in English
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated operational experience, possibly in an international setting
- Demonstrated experience with crisis management preferred
- Flexibility and demonstrated ability to excel in fast-paced environments
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage events for large groups with attention to detail
- Supervisory experience a plus
- Proven ability to work well under stressful conditions
- Experience with living and working in Italy and Rome
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Hubspot experience a plus)

DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for a TBI Development Officer for its office in central Rome. This is a one year, full or part time contract.
The TBI Development Officer will oversee outreach, marketing and communications, manage TBI’s website content, newsletter, social media and other marketing tools.

- Designing and directing marketing campaigns to increase our enrollment
- Targeting and liaising possible academic customers, especially Study Abroad Advisors in US universities
- Negotiating and closing contracts for programs in Rome and other Italian destinations where we run excursions
- Overseeing the structure and content of TBI websites, social media, newsletters and other marketing materials
- Working with TBI’s technical support to resolve issues on organization’s digital media platforms
- Coordinate and manage promotional events such as Open Houses, Symposia, Alumni travel and the like.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

- Relevant experience in the field of Marketing and Communications, ideally in cultural or educational fields

STUDENT SERVICES ASSISTANT
The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for a TBI Student Services Assistant for its office in central Rome. This is a one year, full or part time contract, subject to renewal.

It is essential that the candidate be a team-player, willing to work on a variety of important tasks when required, even when they may not fall within this job description. The TBI Student Services Officer will assist the TBI Program Manager in coordinating, organizing, and facilitating TBI’s on-site academic programs. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to social, academic, volunteer, student conduct, immigration, orientation, trips and academic faculty and staff coordination. As frontline contact for the students the TBI Student Services Officer will be responsible for answering student queries and occasionally accompanying students on excursions including overnight and (very rarely) weekends
This position also requires on-call and crisis management duties outside of office hours in the case of low-level student emergencies, and coordinating with TBI Operations Manager when emergencies are serious. The ideal candidate is easy-going and detail-oriented. - Relevant experience in the field of Higher Education, International Education, or Student Development
- Mother tongue English speaker with excellent Italian language skills
- Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written English and Italian
- Proficient in use of web, email, word processing, and Google platforms, internet and social media.
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated student service experience in an international education setting or student affairs capacity.
- Experience living with or working with students (in a counselor, residence life, student affairs, or related student mentorship role) preferred
- Demonstrated experience with crisis management preferred
- Flexibility and demonstrated ability to excel in fast-paced environments
- Experience with living and working in Italy and Rome
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage events for large groups with attention to detail

CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS
Curricular Internships at the Borromini Institute
The Borromini Institute is a new academic organization which provides educational opportunities for students both in and outside the classroom and support for institutions and faculty-led programs. It was born as an initiative of Gustolab International, a key player on the scene of international education in Italy. Borromini Institute’s core business depends on coordinated efforts of the management team, faculty, and learning facilitators to carry out engaging academic programs. The Borromini Institute is duly committed to sustainable practices and diversity, equity and inclusion.
There are three internship periods with the Borromini Institute available every year. All internships typically last two to three months, depending on the intern’s overall availability, for a total of 150 working hours. As a Curricular Internship, the position is unpaid and we will work with your affiliated academic institution to accredit this professional experience in your academic transcripts.
The Borromini Institute’s 2025 Curricular Internships sessions are as follows:
