Operations Manager

The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for a TBI OPERATIONS MANAGER for its office in central Rome.  This is a one-year, full- time contract, subject to renewal and possible conversion to a permanent contract.

The ideal candidate is creative, easy-going and detail-oriented. It is essential that the candidate be a team player, willing to work on a variety of important tasks when required, even when they may not fall within this job description. As a small company we rely on transparency and candid communications and collaboration. 

The TBI Operations Manager will provide administrative support for the routine operation of all TBI activities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing program plans, program budgets, and calendars.
  • Helping to plan future programs, including budgeting, entry letters, and first draft of activities budgets.
  • Reading all general institutional emails sent to TBI and responding or forwarding as appropriate
  • Tracking program budgets and expenses, collecting receipts from staff and faculty to file in prima nota and detailed schedules
  • Creating, maintaining and updating vouchers for program activities
  • Working with accountants to ensure payment and filing of financial records
  • Carrying out data entry in Hubspot and Google Workplace
  • Participating in orientation and other important program activities with students
  • Occasionally accompanying students on outings in Rome and elsewhere in Italy
  • Maintaining relations with technical support and suppliers, ensuring the full functioning of office equipment (projectors, printers, computers, etc.) and coordinating with tech support where needed
  • Participating in weekly team meetings
  • Overseeing the work of stagisti TBI

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Relevant experience in the field of Higher Education, International Education, or Business Management
  • Mother tongue Italian speaker with excellent English language skills
  • Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written Italian and English
  • Proficient in the use of web, email, word processing, and Google platforms
  • Experience with living and working in Italy and Rome  
  • Experience living with or working with students (in a counselor, residence life, student affairs, or related student mentorship role) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management preferred
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to excel in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to coordinate and manage events for groups with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a relaxed but focused work environment with a diverse and inclusive team

Learning Facilitator

The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for a LEARNING FACILITATOR to work full time in its office in central Rome. This is a short-term CoCo contract intended to follow the project of spring and summer internships and be completed between Dec 1 2025 and July 30, 2026, but successful candidates will likely be asked to continue long-term with a full-time work contract.

The TBI LEARNING FACILITATOR will work with the TBI Program Team in coordinating, organizing, and facilitating TBI’s on-site academic programs. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to social, academic, volunteer, student conduct, immigration, orientation, trips and academic faculty and staff coordination. As frontline contact for the students the TBI Student Services Officer will be responsible for answering student queries and occasionally accompanying students on excursions including overnight and (very rarely) weekends 

This position also requires on-call and crisis management duties outside of office hours in the case of low-level student emergencies, and coordinating with TBI Operations Manager when emergencies are serious.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as daily frontline point of contact with students 
  • Assisting with pre-departure preparations and planning activities
  • Assisting in student check in and check out
  • Overseeing and participating in orientation sessions and meals
  • Chaperoning day trips to sites in the surrounding area
  • Connecting students to on-site academic, medical and mental health resources
  • Being a responder in case of emergency
  • Reporting and logging incidents via internal systems
  • Assisting the Program Manager during student conduct hearings and cases
  • Participating in weekly team meetings
  • Participating in content-generation for website and social media

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Relevant experience in the field of Higher Education, International Education, or Student Development
  • Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written English and Italian
  • Experience living and working in Italian and strong familiarity with Rome
  • Experience living with or working with students (in a counselor, residence life, student affairs, or related student mentorship role) preferred
  • Proficient in use of web, email, word processing, and Google platforms, internet and social media. 
  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrated student service experience in an international education setting or student affairs capacity preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management preferred
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to excel in fast-paced environments
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage events for large groups with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a relaxed but focused work environment with a diverse and inclusive team

Human Rights Advisor

The Borromini Institute (TBI), an initiative of Gustolab International, is currently looking for an HUMAN RIGHTS ADVISOR to work part time in its office in central Rome. This is a short-term CoCo project intended to establish the cluster’s curriculum and direction. It may be followed up with a teaching and ongoing advising role, to be determined upon completion of the project. 

The TBI HUMAN RIGHTS ADVISOR will draft syllabi, advise on program plans, help recruit faculty and in general curate the HRL Human Rights Laboratory academic cluster. 

The ideal candidate is creative, easy-going and detail-oriented. It is essential that the candidate be a team-player, willing to work on a variety of important tasks when required, even when they may not fall within this job description. As a small company we rely on transparency and candid communications and collaboration. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading small group tutorials on marketing, scheduling, reporting, resume-writing, LinkedIn profiles, and public speaking; 
  • Reading and correcting student assignments such as journal entries and reports;
  • Curating final symposia
  • Communicating in Italian with placement partners regarding student performance
  • Assisting in promotion of the TBI Internship program through photographs, blogposts, social media, etc.
  • Accompanying students on occasional visits to other sites and excursions.

CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

Curricular Internships at the Borromini Institute

The Borromini Institute is a new academic organization which provides educational opportunities for students both in and outside the classroom and support for institutions and faculty-led programs. It was born as an initiative of Gustolab International, a key player on the scene of international education in Italy. Borromini Institute’s core business depends on coordinated efforts of the management team, faculty, and learning facilitators to carry out engaging academic programs. The Borromini Institute is duly committed to sustainable practices and diversity, equity and inclusion.

There are three internship periods with the Borromini Institute available every year. All internships typically last two to three months, depending on the intern’s overall availability, for a total of 150 working hours. As a Curricular Internship, the position is unpaid and we will work with your affiliated academic institution to accredit this professional experience in your academic transcripts.

The Borromini Institute’s 2026 Curricular Internships sessions are as follows:

Session I: 13 January – 30 April 2026

  • cooperating in the creation of academic excursions outside of Rome for groups of international students in Italy
  • providing support in organizational, administrative, and secretarial activities
  • providing support in the preparation of teaching materials

Skills

  • excellent communication skills, in both oral and written Italian and English
  • strong computer processing skills including experience with web, email, Microsoft office, and Google platforms
  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues and interact diplomatically and constructively with providers and stakeholders.
