[TMD] MEDIA Tech Laboratory

Design, Media and Technology

“To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
– R. Buckminster Fuller

The Technology, Media and Design Lab focuses on new technologies for a connected digital world and smart cities: augmented reality as applied to cultural heritage, video making, app design, social media and digital communications, globalization of information, big data, geographic information systems, IoT, AI, etc. Students learn about innovation from a technical point of view but also with considerations of human culture, design, and communications. Courses present a European and Mediterranean perspective on progress, aimed not for newness value but to benefit human stakeholders and reduce our negative impact on the environment

Internships

Students may take part in workshops and field experience involving video-making, cinema, app and website content development and design, and social media. Our internships are curricular, followed closely by our faculty who coordinate public symposia and publications.

With the Tech Media Laboratory, you could intern with a wine tasting studio and social club in the heart of Rome that offers wine education and tours to locals, tourists and expats in both English and Italian. During their events this studio regularly highlights and prioritizes the seasonality and biodiversity in their products. The intern’s tasks would involve participating in tastings and gastronomic tours to photograph content for the organization’s social media pages. The intern would also draft written content in English for both the blog and social media pages of the wine studio.

Students interested in enrolling in an academic internship while abroad will receive individual advising as our staff works to find the best customized internship placements for our students.
